Info for Parents/Guardians
Some tidbits of knowledge that are important for parents and guardians is outlined below.
Understanding Confidentiality
As elementary school counselors, we ensure that every student and family understands and acknowledges the limits of confidentiality and professional working student- and family-counselor relationship.
What students share in their one-on-one counseling sessions is privileged information with the exception of information that signals a safety concern. With this consideration, it is important to note that most general work with elementary students is communicated to their adults to help reinforce growth strategies and preferred behaviors.
